Event Details

With continuing uprisings and huge changes in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and after protests and riots in the UK, the British Council is reviewing its work with young people in these areas.

They want to hear from young people in the UK about their experiences, opinions and ideas and we are organising a focus group for members of BYC, MYPs and DMYPs so that you can help them shape a new youth programme.

Aims

To learn from young people in the UK about exciting, effective, innovative and engaging activities for young people to participate in their communities at local, national and international levels

To identify opportunities for young people in the UK to be involved in exchanges with young people from the MENA region to strengthen mutual understanding and share best practice

To identify organisations and projects in the UK that can support the British Council youth programmes in the MENA region.

If you are a member of BYC or an MYP/DMYP and are interested in taking part then please sign up.

There are a maximum of 20 places and we will select a group of participants that will give us the best diversity of experience and location.

All travel expenses will be covered.

If you have any questions then please email international@byc.org.uk or call 020 7250 8375 and ask for James Edleston

British Youth Council

The British Youth Council, as the national youth council of the UK, aims to connect with our member organisations and networks of local youth councils, to empower young people aged 25 and under, wherever they are from, to have a say and be heard. We aim to help them to participate in decisions that affect them; have a voice and campaign on issues they believe in, inspire them to have a positive impact, and gain recognition for their positive contribution to communities, society and the world.
